The Competition Council

The Danish Competition Authority is the secretariat of the Danish Competition Council and, thus, responsible for the executive administration of the Competition Act. The Council rules in major cases, including cases of fundamental importance, and sets a precedent in other cases.

The Danish Competition Council is composed of a chairman and 17 members appointed by the Minister of Economic and Business Affairs on the basis of personal and professional qualifications.
Members of the Council

The Council represents versatile knowledge within public and private enterprise, including legal, economic, financial and consumer-oriented affairs. The members must act independently and perform their duty impartially and with constant care. In doing so, the Council is not influenced by the Minister of Economic and Business Affairs.

The Danish Competition Authority makes case presentations and recommendations to the council meetings and is responsible for the day-to-day case administration. The Competition Authority is entitled to make decisions on behalf of the Council.

The Competition Council meets once a month.
